Terminate Termites Before They Terminate Your Property!
How to Minimize Termites Between Treatments:
01
Regular Inspections & Professional Treatments
Schedule annual termite inspections with Kolob Pest Control. Early detection can help identify and treat any infestations before they cause significant damage. Consider using preventive treatments like liquid termiticides or bait systems to keep termites at bay.
02
Seal Entry Points
Inspect your home for cracks, gaps, or holes in the foundation, walls, and windows. Sealing these entry points will help prevent termites from gaining access to your home, especially subterranean termites that travel through mud tubes.
03
Remove Wood and Debris
Keep firewood, mulch, and other wood debris away from your home's foundation. Also, remove any old wooden structures, like fence posts or logs, that are in contact with the soil, as these can serve as food sources and attract termites.
04
Eliminate Moisture Sources
Termites are attracted to moisture, so it's crucial to fix leaky pipes, gutters, and faucets. Ensure proper drainage around your home to prevent water accumulation near the foundation, which can attract subterranean termites.
Southern Utah Termites
Subterranean Termites:
These termites are the most widespread and destructive. They live underground and build mud tubes to access food sources, typically wood. They require moisture to survive, so they often live in areas with high humidity or near water sources. Subterranean termites feed on the wood of homes and other structures, often going unnoticed until significant damage occurs. They are attracted to moisture and tend to nest in the soil around a structure's foundation.
Drywood Termites:
Drywood termites live directly in the wood they consume, unlike subterranean termites that require soil contact. They don't need moisture from the ground, so they can infest dry, sound wood. Drywood termites are often harder to detect, as they do not leave the visible signs like mud tubes. Their colonies are smaller, and the damage is typically concentrated in a single piece of wood. They can infest wooden furniture, structural beams, and other dry wood in the home.
